Implementing VR Simulation

The OMS VR platform is designed to be adaptable to meet your needs. This page covers examples of how to use the OMS platform with your learners. All use cases are adaptable for whether learners are using VR equipment in person (on-site) or accessing on-screen (remotely).

Independent Learning

Learners access virtual scenarios from their personal OMS account and play through independently without faculty supervision. At the end of the scenario, learners use their feedback to understand what went well and where there is room for improvement.

Peer-Led Sessions

Groups of learners work together on the virtual scenario, debriefing and reviewing feedback as a group. This can be done with or without faculty supervision - similar to a problem-based learning approach.

Faculty-Led Group Sessions

Virtual scenarios can form a basis for faculty-led teaching sessions. Running a virtual scenario as the clinical base allows you to focus on specific learning points around it, and forms a hub for ongoing discussion.

Interprofessional Sessions

If your institution has purchased access to OMS Interprofessional scenarios, multiple learners can work together within the same virtual scenario - learning from each other in real-time, receiving feedback and debriefing as a group.
